Guiding Your Decision

As you’re thinking about your vision needs, consider the following to determine which vision plan option is right for you. 

You may consider choosing the base plan if:

• You and your family expect to only need basic services, such as regular eye examinations each year.
• You or your family members are unlikely to need frame replacements year after year.    

You may consider choosing the buy-up plan if:

• You or an enrolled dependent will need frames more frequently. For instance, as your child grows the frame sizes may no longer fit their face properly. Additionally, children may be more likely to break their frames more frequently.
• You are interested in the Easy Option for more frame, coating, and lens options.

Additional Vision Benefits

When you enroll in a VSP plan, you’ll automatically receive special discounts on the following items: 

• Glasses and Sunglasses: 20% discount on additional pairs within 12 months of your eye exam. This is available with both the Base and Buy Up Plan. 
  
• Light Care: This benefit allows members to use their frame allowance toward non-prescription sunglasses or non-prescription blue light glasses. This applies to the Buy Up Plan only. 
  
• Laser Vision Correction: Average 15% off the regular price or 5% off the promotional price. Discounts are only available from contracted facilities.
