What is Progyny?
The Progyny benefit is designed to support all paths to parenthood, removing barriers to care so you and your doctor can create the customized treatment plan that is right for you.
The benefit bundles all the individual services, tests, and treatments you may need into a Progyny Smart Cycle. That means you won’t run out of coverage mid-treatment cycle, and you can focus on the most effective treatment plan for you.
Who’s Eligible?
Cigna medical plan enrollees—you and your spouse/domestic partner— are eligible for Progyny. The costs that you incur are processed through your medical/prescription drug benefits.

Adoption and Surrogacy
Not all paths to parenthood go in a straight line. That’s why benefits with Progyny also include reimbursement for both adoption and surrogacy. You can receive up to $5,000 for surrogacy financial assistance per child ($10,000 lifetime maximum) and up to $5,000 for adoption financial assistance per child ($ 10,000-lifetime maximum).
On your surrogacy journey, you will also have unlimited access to a dedicated Patient Care Advocate (PCA), who will provide you with information, resources and emotional support throughout the process. To learn more and activate your benefit, contact your dedicated Progyny PCA at 1-866-952-6324.
All Danone employees are eligible for Adoption and Surrogacy benefits, regardless of medical plan enrollment.
Possible Tax Implications
Benefits are available under two different programs: the Adoption Assistance Plan and the Surrogacy Benefit Policy. Adoption Assistance Plan benefits generally are designed to be excluded from your income for federal income taxes under Code Section 137, if you meet the requirements of the Plan and the rules of the Internal Revenue Code. The Company will not withhold federal income taxes from the reimbursement amount. Any benefits provided under the Adoption Assistance Plan will be subject to applicable federal employment taxes and may be subject to state income taxes. However, tax exemption may not be available (or may be less than expected) for eligible employees with personal or joint income levels above certain dollar amounts. Surrogacy Benefits under the Policy are designed as income for withholding purposes.
Benefits provided relating to the adoption of the eligible employee’s spouse’s child must be treated as taxable income. Any adoption or surrogacy assistance provided under the Plans for the use of an eligible employee’s spouse as a surrogate for another family would be covered under the spouses’ group health plan and will be fully taxable to the eligible employee and subject to all applicable income and employment taxes.
